New to Barking Springs? It’s as Easy as 1-2-3

We’re so glad you found us. Here’s everything you need to know before your dog’s first visit. If you have questions at any point, simply give us a call or send a text to our team.

Step 1 — Meet the Requirements

Our requirements are in place to keep every pet and staff member at the ranch safe and healthy.

A quick note on timing: it’s best to have vaccinations administered at least a few days before your dog’s first visit (to any kennel, not just ours). That gives the vaccine time to take effect, and accounts for the small number of pets who have a reaction shortly after they’re administered.

Please have your veterinarian email your dog’s vaccination records before your first day or send them to us directly.

All Dogs

  • Must be current on Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella (kennel cough) with vaccines administered by a veterinarian
  • At least 3 months old, although 4 months is encouraged for your pet’s health. All rounds of vaccinations must be completed before coming in — puppies are still developing their immune systems, which carries slightly higher risk in any kennel environment
  • On a regular flea preventative

Social or “Open Play” Dogs

  • Spayed or neutered if over 7 months
  • No aggressive behavior toward other dogs or people
  • Plays and socializes well with other dogs

Non-Social Dogs

  • No aggressive behavior toward people

That’s the full list for non-social guests — no spay/neuter requirements, and dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments are welcome.

Step 2 — Fill Out the New Client Form

Complete our new client form online using the link below. Once submitted, you’ll be able to request appointments and manage your dog’s visit through our customer portal.

Step 3 — Come in for an Evaluation

All new boarding and daycare dogs participating in group play will come in for a complimentary evaluation day — simply a full day of daycare, provided free of charge.

During the evaluation, our trained staff will introduce your dog to our play environment and observe how they behave in a social setting. This helps us ensure the safety and compatibility of every dog at the ranch, and it gives your pup a chance to get comfortable with us before a longer stay. It’s also when we’ll give you a tour of the property.

Evaluations are not required for non-social dogs, though we still encourage one.

Evaluations and tours are by appointment only. Request yours through the online customer portal or get in touch and we’ll set it up.

FAQs

How much does the evaluation day cost?

Nothing. It’s a complimentary full day of daycare for new social dogs.

Can I tour the ranch?

Absolutely. Tours happen on your dog’s evaluation day, by appointment. We know how much it matters to see where your dog will be staying and playing. To keep the play groups calm and undisturbed, we view the yards from a distance.

What are your office hours?

Hours are 7–11 a.m. and 3–6 p.m., every day of the week. After-hours drop-offs and pickups are available based on scheduling — just ask.

What breeds do you accept?

We don’t breed–discriminate here at Barking Springs. That said, an open-play environment isn’t suitable for every dog, and we’re unable to accept dogs who show aggression toward other dogs or people that can’t be redirected into appropriate play. For dogs who don’t do well in groups, our non-social program is often an excellent fit.

Do you offer airport parking?

No, not at this time. That being said, we’re just ten minutes from Austin-Bergstrom, and after-hours drop-off and pickup make travel days much easier.
