New to the Ranch? Your Dog’s First Day Is Free.

Social dogs start with a complimentary evaluation day — a full day of daycare at no charge. Non-social dogs are welcome too, and no evaluation is required.

Travel Easy, Your Dog’s in Good Hands

Barking Springs offers overnight boarding 365 days a year, built around one simple belief: dogs need room to run, play, and just be dogs. Set on seven acres of cross-fenced Texas countryside, our Del Valle ranch gives your pup more outdoor space than almost any facility in the Austin area. Guests spend their days outdoors in off-leash play rather than being confined to a small run — and when the day winds down, they retire to their own private sleeping area in one of our climate-controlled buildings.

The result is a dog who’s genuinely worn out by the time you come home, which means a calmer household when your journey is complete.

Are you looking for boarding options for your non-social dog? We’d be happy to have them.

Every stay includes:

  • Off-leash play on seven acres, included at no extra charge for every overnight guest
  • Multiple play yards so there’s always room to run, and groups stay a comfortable size
  • Play groups matched by size and temperament — every dog gets buddies they actually get along with
  • A private, climate-controlled suite for rest breaks, nap time, and overnight stays, cleaned daily
  • Two meals a day, served late morning and again before bedtime
  • Trained staff who know canine first aid and are equipped to handle minor injuries
  • A team member who lives on the property, so someone is always nearby
  • After-hours drop-off and pickup, available based on scheduling

Please note: Pets picked up after 12 p.m. Monday through Saturday will be charged for a day of daycare.

Boarding for Non-Social Dogs

If your dog would rather have their own space — or simply doesn’t do well in a crowd — we have a program built for them.

Non-social guests stay in spacious suites within a dedicated area of our climate-controlled building, with their own yards kept separate from the social dogs. Outdoor time is scheduled frequently throughout each day, with Ranch Walks or Enrichment Sessions available as add-ons.

We accommodate dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments in this program — and no evaluation day is required, though we’re always happy to have one.

Before Your Dog’s First Stay

Our requirements exist to keep every dog and every staff member safe and healthy. All guests must be:

  • At least 3 months old (4 months encouraged)
  • Current on Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella — administered by a veterinarian, with all rounds completed before arrival
  • On a regular flea preventative
  • Spayed or neutered if over 7 months, for social/open-play dogs
  • Free of aggressive behavior toward people; social dogs must also play well with other dogs

We do not breed-discriminate at Barking Springs. That said, an open-play environment isn’t right for every dog. For those pups, our non-social program is often the perfect fit.

Dog Boarding FAQ

What vaccinations does my dog need?

Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella (kennel cough), all administered by a veterinarian, with every round completed before arrival. We recommend scheduling vaccinations a few days ahead of your dog’s visit, so they have time to take effect. Have your vet email records in advance or send them to us directly.

When can I drop off and pick up?

Office hours are 7–11 a.m. and 2-7 p.m., every day of the week. Boarding guests can arrive or depart during either window, whichever works better for you. Dogs picked up in the afternoon on checkout day are charged for a day of daycare. After-hours drop-offs and pickups are available based on scheduling — just ask.

Can I bring my dog's own food?

Yes, and we encourage it, especially for dogs with sensitive stomachs or first–time visitors. Please label everything clearly with feeding amounts. Many of our clients use pre-portioned baggies, which makes mealtime much easier on our team.

Can my dog bring bedding or toys?

Overnight guests are welcome to bring bedding from home (familiar smells can be a real comfort). Toys are fine for your dog’s own suite, but for safety reasons we don’t allow toys in group play.

What happens if my dog gets sick or injured?

Our staff is trained in canine first aid and equipped to handle minor issues on-site. For anything more serious, we’ll take your dog to your regular veterinarian when possible, or to an emergency clinic for immediate care. We will always try to reach you first.

What if I need to change or cancel my reservation?

For non-holiday stays, we never charge for a change or cancellation — you only pay for the nights your dog stays. During holidays, we may take a 50% deposit to hold the reservation, and we reserve the right to charge for four nights if a holiday booking isn’t cancelled at least seven days before drop-off.
